Cosa ricevi — e cosa non è

Cosa ricevi

Single substances. Mixtures on enquiry. One document, one language — additional languages are priced separately. Every version, including the Chinese one, is written to EU law — (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH) Annex II and (EU) 2020/878 — and translated from it. The Chinese version is a reference translation, not a legally valid document for the Chinese market: an SDS for China must be compiled separately to GB/T 16483 and GB/T 17519.

Two guarantees, both with their limits stated

The Gap Report Guarantee

If the available evidence cannot support a defensible document for your CAS number and product specification, we will not invent the missing values. You receive a documented gap report and choose: a refund, store credit, or the report on its own.

A visible gap is worth more than a plausible number, because the plausible number is the one that fails when somebody checks it.

The Re-issue Promise

If a signed card is rejected by an authority or by a customer’s compliance officer on one of the points we checked and reported as passed, we re-issue it corrected at no charge and credit the original fee.

This covers the checks we performed and named. It does not cover registration status, tonnage, or your role in the supply chain — those are not ours to hold, and a guarantee that pretended otherwise would be worth nothing.

dichromium tris(chromate) — CAS 24613-89-6, Annex VI index 024-010-00-X. Below: what the regulatory file for this substance must contain and where such files usually fail.

What is the EC number for dichromium tris(chromate)?

Alongside CAS 24613-89-6, this substance carries EC number 246-356-2 and Annex VI index 024-010-00-X. European documentation is built around the EC number as often as around the CAS: registration dossiers, the candidate list and customs systems key on it. A safety data sheet quoting only one of the two forces every downstream reader to look up the other.

Purity, certificates and what the sheet does not say

The purity grade is determined by a certificate of analysis rather than a safety data sheet. The safety data sheet for dichromium tris(chromate) provides information about the substance itself, while a certificate of analysis specifically details a particular batch, including measured results against the specification and the analytical method used for each parameter. Laboratories typically request both documents when they refer to ‘the COA’.

Stability, reactivity and incompatibilities

Reactivity information for CAS 24613-89-6 in section 10 has to be specific enough to act on. ‘Avoid strong oxidising agents’ is a category; naming the classes that actually react is an instruction.

Which GHS pictograms apply to dichromium tris(chromate)?

The label for dichromium tris(chromate) carries GHS03 (flame over circle), GHS05 (corrosion), GHS07 (exclamation mark), GHS08 (health hazard), GHS09 (environment), with the signal word Danger. These are not chosen by the supplier: CLP Annex VI states them for CAS 24613-89-6, and the precedence rules in Annex I decide which pictogram is dropped when two would say the same thing. A label showing a different set from the register is wrong even if every hazard statement on it is correct.

What Annex VI notes and concentration limits apply to dichromium tris(chromate)?

The Annex VI entry for CAS 24613-89-6 carries note T. Notes are not commentary: they modify how the classification applies — to concentration ranges, to specific forms of the substance, or to the labelling that follows from it. An entry read without its notes is read incompletely.

Identifiers that must agree

Three identifiers accompany this substance, and all must align: the CAS number 24613-89-6, the Annex VI index number 024-010-00-X, and the name as listed in the register. Incongruent identifiers represent the subtlest flaw in a documentation set, as each individual document appears correct until a cross-check reveals they describe distinct entities.

Is dichromium tris(chromate) on the SVHC candidate list?

Yes — dichromium tris(chromate) appears on the candidate list of substances of very high concern. That triggers duties that classification alone does not: notification to ECHA above the tonnage threshold, and an obligation to inform recipients where the substance is present in an article above 0.1 % by weight. It is also listed in Annex XIV, with a sunset date of 2019-01-22. Once a substance reaches Annex XIV, continued use in the Union requires an authorisation granted for a named use — a supplier relationship alone is not a legal basis.

Protective equipment and exposure controls

When conducting a risk assessment for dichromium tris(chromate), laboratories must begin by referring to Section 8. If an occupational exposure limit is in place, it is essential to clearly state this limit along with its source and the corresponding averaging period. In cases where no such limit exists, the documentation should explicitly indicate this fact rather than leaving the relevant field blank.

What is the CLP classification of dichromium tris(chromate)?

The harmonised classification for CAS 24613-89-6 carries 6 hazard statements: H271, H350, H314, H317, H400, H410. In plain terms this means H271; may cause cancer; causes severe skin burns and eye damage; may cause an allergic skin reaction. A harmonised entry is binding across the Union — an importer may not soften it, and a self-classification that diverges from it will not survive an enforcement check.

Is dichromium tris(chromate) classified as a CMR substance?

CAS 24613-89-6 is classified as a CMR substance (H350). That status changes the obligations attached to every shipment: workplace exposure documentation, restrictions on supply to the general public, and substitution pressure from downstream users who must justify continued use. A safety data sheet for a CMR substance is read more closely than any other, because the classification itself invites scrutiny.

What must the label for dichromium tris(chromate) contain?

The supply label for dichromium tris(chromate) is generated from the same classification that drives the safety data sheet: pictograms selected by precedence, one signal word derived from the highest hazard class present, and the hazard statements H271, H350, H314… reproduced in full. Where the container is too small to carry the complete set at a legible size, there are lawful ways to handle it and unlawful ones that look identical to a non-specialist.

First-aid content and why it is read first

Section 4 covers first-aid measures for dichromium tris(chromate) by route of exposure: inhalation, skin, eye and ingestion, each answered separately. Generic advice to ‘seek medical attention’ in all four is the most common defect, and it is the one that matters at the moment somebody needs the sheet.

In which language must the SDS for dichromium tris(chromate) be supplied?

Language is a compliance question, not a convenience one. Wherever dichromium tris(chromate) reaches a customer, the receiving Member State may require the sheet in its own official language, and several do so without exception. An English original that satisfies an auditor in one country can be refused at the next border, with the content untouched and the fault lying entirely in which words it is written in.

Storage and handling in the document

Section 7 of the documentation for dichromium tris(chromate) details handling and storage procedures, including incompatible materials, conditions to be avoided, and any segregation requirements resulting from its classification. Laboratories reviewing this section need explicit instructions rather than general warnings; for example, a statement like ‘store in a cool dry place’ is insufficient because it leaves the responsibility of specifying precise storage conditions to the personnel.

How is dichromium tris(chromate) classified for road, sea and air transport?

The transport classification for dichromium tris(chromate) falls under section 14 and varies depending on the mode of transport: ADR for road, IMDG for sea, and IATA for air. A document that prints all three classifications without specifying which one applies places the responsibility on the shipper to select the correct one, and it is the shipper who faces penalties for making an incorrect choice.

Questions about documentation for dichromium tris(chromate)

Can I check whether my existing sheet is still valid?

Yes. A section-by-section reading against Annex II and the current harmonised entry establishes that in one pass, and a sheet that passes is reported as passing.

Do I need a safety data sheet to import dichromium tris(chromate) into the EU?

Yes. A sheet compiled to Annex II of REACH must exist before the first consignment moves, and it must be held by the entity placing the substance on the Union market.

What is the CAS number of dichromium tris(chromate)?

CAS 24613-89-6. In CLP Annex VI the same substance carries index number 024-010-00-X, and both identifiers should appear in the documentation.

Is dichromium tris(chromate) a CMR substance?

Yes. The harmonised classification places it among substances classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic for reproduction, which changes workplace documentation and supply restrictions.

FAQ — domande frequenti su PXRD
What is the Cambridge Structural Database (CSD)?
The CSD (Cambridge Structural Database) is a commercial CCDC database with 1.3 million organic and metal-organic structures — the gold standard of crystallography. Every structure has a unique refcode (e.g. ACSALA01 = aspirin Form I). Access requires a licence (~USD 5,775/year academic). WebCSD (searching individual structures) and Mercury (visualisation) are free.
Where does the PXRD pattern shown in this accordion come from?
We aggregate the data from three free, peer-reviewed sources: COD (Crystallography Open Database) — CIF files with complete structural data; IUCr Acta Crystallographica E — open-access publications with PXRD data; PubChem (NCBI/NIH) — experimental density for cross-validation. Every entry has a DOI leading to the source publication.
What is the R-factor in crystallography?
The R-factor (residual factor) measures the agreement of a structural model with experimental data: R = Σ|Fo-Fc|/ΣFo. The lower it is, the better the quality of the structure. Values < 0.05 = high quality (the five per cent rule). Values > 0.10 suggest problems with the model or with the data. The R-factor is a standard quality criterion in the CSD and COD databases.
What is the 2θ angle in PXRD?
2θ is the angle between the incident beam and the diffracted beam, measured in degrees. Bragg's law (nλ = 2d·sinθ) relates the diffraction angle to the d-spacing between lattice planes. For Cu Kα (λ=1.54056 Å) typical peaks lie in the 5–70° range. Each peak corresponds to a different family of hkl planes.
